At Bankside Immigration, we pride ourselves on successfully handling challenging immigration cases. On 2nd December 2022, we celebrated a significant achievement as one of our esteemed clients received their 2021 Resident Visa, despite the complexities posed by a previous conviction. This remarkable success was a result of meticulous planning and the execution of a clear, step-by-step strategy that led to a positive transformation in the client's circumstances.

Background

Our association with the client began in 2017 when we secured an Essential Skills Work Visa (now Accredited Employer Work Visa) for them. We continued to support the client through visa renewals and variation of conditions along the way. However, the client's immigration journey encountered a major roadblock in 2019 when they were involved in a road accident that led to charges of driving under influence and careless driving.

The First Complication

Recognising the potential impact of the conviction on the client's future visa applications, we advised them to take rehabilitative steps to demonstrate their commitment to reform and integration into New Zealand society. Together, we crafted a strategy, emphasizing genuine actions and consistent effort as a roadmap to rebuilding a positive history.

Patient Execution

The client diligently followed the plan almost to the letter, resulting in the approval of their new work visa application in 2020. Our carefully drafted Character Waiver Application played a pivotal role in convincing INZ that the client deserved the privilege of staying and working in New Zealand. This success served as an indication that our approach was on the right track.

The Second Complication

Subsequently, in 2022 we applied for the (one off) 2021 Resident Visa on the client's behalf. As anticipated, the application presented similar challenges due to the past conviction, necessitating another Character Waiver Application.

The Transformational Journey:

Building a Positive History: We guided the client to take specific steps that showcased their commitment to personal growth and meaningful contributions to society. This transformative journey demanded determination and dedication.

Trusting Our Guidance: The client's trust in our advice and steadfast adherence to it played a crucial role in the successful outcomes of both their Work Visa and Resident Visa applications.

Immigration New Zealand's Recognition: INZ acknowledged the client's exceptional efforts to become a responsible and contributing member of the community. The positive transformation and commitment displayed by the client significantly influenced the approval of their Resident Visa, demonstrating that genuine efforts to reform are valued by INZ.

The Importance of Strategy: The success of this case reaffirms the significance of a well-defined, step-by-step strategy. Early planning and meticulous execution are vital in initiating the transformation process, positioning the client for a favourable immigration outcome.

A Reconstruction Process:

Viewing the immigration journey as a reconstruction process empowers the client to reshape their circumstances positively. Though success is not guaranteed, genuine efforts significantly increase the chances of a positive result.

Conclusion

At Bankside Immigration, we take immense pride in guiding our client through a transformational journey that culminated in the successful acquisition of their Work and Resident Visas. This achievement exemplifies the power of planning, determination, and genuine commitment to making a meaningful impact on society.
